Our Mission
God
has provided us with an awesome recreational tool
and we try to share that message with our visitors
young and old alike. We encourage our guests to
be good stewards of our natural resources and
enjoy them in a safe manner.
Our motto at NRE is
"The Beautiful New River - Respect it and
Protect it".
We
"Respect" the river because
it can be powerful force to deal with. We encourage
the use of life jackets to protect guests from
the natural hazards that are ever present in the
strong currents of the river. Also we emphasize
the importance of the buddy system, encouraging
everyone to have a friend with them while navigating
the river - a friend to share the experience with,
assist in a time of need, or go for help should
the situation call for it.
We
"Protect" the river because
God only gave us one New River and we need to
make sure it is here for future generations to
enjoy. The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries
are continually working hard to enhance the fishery
of the New River. We ask and require all guests
at New River's Edge to adhere to a strict "catch
& release" policy of all smallmouth
bass.
